A Unique FinishWhen Turkey Leg participants enter Heritage Park this year to finish the 5K, they will run along a path of lights and inflatables with the theme of Christmas. There is more to the story than just that. A neighbor to the park, Chris Miller, contacted me and wanted me to know the reason behind all the decorations. He's come out over the last couple of years to cheer on the runners. This year, a little girl named Elora, that lives a few houses down from Chris, recently was diagnosed with cancer. As the family is faced with tackling this challenge with their daughter, the neighbors wanted to brighten up their holidays. Everyone has donated lights, inflatables, and other holiday themed decorations to brighten up the path leading to the park. Even though we will run through the park during the daylight, know that these lights and decorations represent the love of family and friends for a little girl struggling with cancer. What You Can Do |
Chris is looking for holiday themed inflatables to add to the path. If you have extras or would like to donate one, you can bring it to the race on Thanksgiving Day morning and we'll make sure that it will be used to add to the path. If you want to donate in any other way, feel free to visit this page here. Feel free to email me here if you would like more information.
